Minima was approached to provide a means of promoting state of the art fuel cell technology by providing industrial designs to build brand recognition in a range of target markets. The hydrogen fuel cell generator was aimed as a new concept for consumer off-grid electricity supply.
Predominantly, this is a device to provide power for temporary interruptions in supply, so a number of variants were designed around the standard device for use in areas such as leisure - boats and caravans, and UPS enterprise applications.
Styling was modelled to suit end users’ perception of a high tech device and was crucial for market acceptance as was the need for cost effective manufacture and ease of use. Minima’s leading edge design technology allowed for a product range to be developed quickly using a standardised chassis format whilst allowing for the market to be tested long before manufacturing costs were incurred.
